Morgans Originals is a collection of independent hotels, each with its own unique design and cultural significance. In London, this collection includes two notable establishments:
Sanderson
Located on Berners Street in London’s West End, Sanderson was originally constructed in 1958 as the headquarters for Arthur Sanderson and Sons, renowned manufacturers of wallpaper, fabrics, and paint. The building’s modernist design, featuring a steel and glass frontage, was the work of architect Reginald Uren. In 2000, after a refurbishment led by designer Philippe Starck, it reopened as the Sanderson Hotel. The hotel is celebrated for its whimsical design elements, including a courtyard garden and a grand flying staircase adorned with a stained glass mural by John Piper.
St Martins Lane
Situated in Covent Garden’s vibrant Theatre District, St Martins Lane offers a distinctive blend of elegance and eccentricity. Designed by Philippe Starck, the hotel features imaginative design elements such as gold teeth seating and life-sized chess pieces. Its proximity to London’s cultural landmarks makes it a dynamic and theatrical destination for visitors.
